Lookout Mountain 10K and 100K

By Sam - Posted on 14 December 2009

Thats right, I said 100K. A little crazy, I know, but a great run from what I hear. Although most of us will never know what the entire 100K course is like, well, at least in one day. We can, however, sign up for the more mortal 10K run. Here is more information on both runs from RockCreek.com.

Introduction:
Finish off your year with the longest run in Chattanooga history! The 2009 Rock/Creek Trail Series Lookout Mountain 100k race is in its second offical year, with a 10k option to make this a great way to end the year for all running levels. Beautiful trails on the scenic and historic Lookout Mountain make this race a great goal for your training calendar. After all, the holidays can’t just be about parties and big dinners; how about a big race?

Now part of The Vasque Project , this year's increasingly popular Lookout Mountain 100k & 10k trail race promises to be an incredible experience before the holidays.
Presented by Rock/Creek & Vasque, sponsored by Marmot and SmartWool. Participants will receive a technical Wicked Tee from Marmot. Prizes and raffles will be provided as well.

Packet Pickup & Prerace Day:

Packet pick-up will be at Rock/Creek's Two North Shore location (301 Manufacturers Rd. Chattanooga, TN 37405) on Friday, December 18th from 4pm-7pm [EST]. A mandatory prerace meeting (for the 100k only) is at 5:30 pm on Friday December 18th at Rock/Creek. Packet pick up and drop-bag drop off will continue until 7:00 pm.

Race Day Start:
Due to last year's start time confusion, we would like to explain the phenomena of the sun. Originally, we wanted to start the race at 7:00am EST. However, the sun does not fully rise until 7:30am. It is a late run if we start at 8:00am. We are asking all participants to be lined up at the start and ready to run no later than 7:10am. We currently plan to start the 100k at 7:30am and the 10k at 8:30am. Please plan accordingly.

Time Cutoff:
The 100k race will have an 18 hour cut off. That is 1:00am on Sunday, December 20th.
